This is a great way for making money online if you live in Singapore and want something to do from home, or from anywhere, working flexible hours.
And you can provide these services to Singaporean businesses, that list freelance jobs online on local job sites and professional networks such as Linkedin, or even to international businesses that list related jobs on freelancing sites.
Freelancing is increasing as a way of making money in Singapore (source), like it is almost everywhere else.
This is a great method of earning extra income in Singapore for foreigners, and they can do it online, since most of them know more than one language, and they can do translation, writing and editing jobs in the languages they know.
Some online marketplaces for writing and translation related jobs are:
- Linkedin.
- Upwork.
- iWriter.
- ProBlogger.
- Proofreading Pal.
- TranslatorsCafe.
Pros of this method:
- No capital needed to get started.

Software & Web Development
This is another great way for making money online as this kind of work doesn’t require you to work from an office.
If you know a programming language, or if you know how to build websites through a web development language, or through easy to use platforms like WordPress & Shopify, then this is a great way to earn income online in Singapore.
You can either find full-time, part-time, or freelance jobs, on local Singaporean job sites, Linkedin, or freelancing sites such as Upwork and Freelancer.com.
Or, you can create your own website and use search engine traffic (SEO & ads), or network on Linkedin and social media platforms in order to find clients.
Or, you can visit local businesses and offer them to build them websites or online stores, and then, do the work from home when you get a job.
Pros:
- Everything is going online, which means that there are lots of opportunities with this method.
- Low cost to start.
- You can scale your work by finding more clients and hiring others to work for you as freelancers.
Cons:
- You need to learn at least one programming language, or one way of building websites.
- You need to actively search for clients and do the work, which is not passive.
Social Media Accounts Management
Social Media Management is great way of creating income online if you live in Singapore.
All businesses are trying to find and keep new customers, and social media is a must-use tool when it comes to this.
And most small and medium-sized business owners are trying to do this one by themselves, because they think that its an easy task, and that they don’t need to hire someone to do it on full-time basis.
And after a while, they fail in getting results and give up on doing it.
You can step in and find these businesses, and offer them small packages that can be sufficient to do the work their businesses need, and at the same time, doesn’t take a lot of their money.
You can find these businesses either through job sites if they were looking for a social media manager, or you can contact them through their social accounts, or physically visit them like in the previous method.
Getting only ten local clients that pay you $300 per month each is enough to make you $3k per month in Singapore working online.
$300 per month is a good pricing point that doesn’t feel heavy on the business owner, and at the same time, is a good payout for doing work that might not take one hour of your time every day.
Actually, if you know how to plan and manage your time, you can schedule and batch your work for a whole week in advance, and that can help you reduce the time spent doing the work.
Pros:
- Big part of the work can be scheduled in advance.
- Low cost to start.
- You can delegate part of the work to others when you get many projects.
- There are many social media channels to work on.
Cons:
- You need to keep learning about the SM platform you work on, as these keep doing updates to their platforms.
- You need to put in the work on continuous basis, even though you can schedule parts of it.
Print on Demand
This is a perfect method for earning money online as a student in Singapore, since big part of the work can be done in bulk, and it doesn’t need you to interact with customers or handle orders by yourself.
Print on Demand is about creating designs for different items, such as t-shirts, mugs, stickers, socks, leggings, hoodies, …etc., and selling them.
However, you don’t need to touch any item that you sell.
This is because there are platforms such as TeePublic, Teespring, and Redbubble, which offer all these products and more, and allow you to create your design and add it to their items, put the price you want to charge, and then market your products through social media or any other means.
And when someone buys any of the products you sell with your design, the platform will process the payment, take their money that covers up for the cost of the product, order fulfillment and their profit, and then send you your profit through PayPal or to your bank account.
And they will create the product with your design on it, and will ship it to the buyer directly without you touching it.
This is a great method for making money online because students have less time for work, and this method requires you to mainly do the design work and the marketing part.
Pros:
- Free to start as you can use free design tools and free marketing methods.
- You can create lots of designs and upload them in advance, no need to work on daily basis, which is considered a passive income way for students in Singapore.
- Scalable as long as you can create beautiful designs that people would like to buy.
- If a design sell well on one item, you can easily replicate it on other items.
Cons:
- You need to learn how to do simple designs, but there are many free tools such as Canva & Adobe Express.
- You need to be careful not to use designs that contain copyrighted images or quotes.
- You need to do the marketing part, which requires some skills such as social media marketing and search engine marketing.
- Scaling needs you to create lots of designs, or to use paid advertising.
E-Commerce
If you want to learn the best way to earn up to $10k a month in Singapore, and online, then it’s e-commerce.
You can do it in many other ways, online and offline, but e-commerce is the one that is more flexible, can be started for a relatively low cost, and can be scaled faster.
If you already have a product that you can manufacture in bulk, and you know it there’s a need for it, then you can sell either on your own online store, or through marketplaces such as Amazon and Etsy.
And if you don’t have your own product, then you still can make this work, by selling products that you don’t make by yourself.
There are two main methods where you can make money online through e-commerce without having your products.
The first method is called dropshipping.
With this method, you re-sell others’ products for a higher markup.
You outsource items from vendors who sell in retail for low prices, place the products on your online store for a higher price, market your store, and when you get an order, you send the vendor their price, and ask them to ship the product directly to the buyer.
And you keep the margin for yourself, which should cover up for the marketing costs and for your profit.
And Shopify makes it very easy to get started with selling without inventory through the dropshipping model thanks to their easy to use platform.
But with this method, you need to market your products by yourself through the different online advertising methods, free and paid.
The second method is called Amazon FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon).
With this method, you agree with a manufacturer to create a certain product with your branding on it, ship it in bulk to Amazon’s warehouses, and you create a listing there.
When someone buys your product, amazon holds the money, ship the product by themselves to the customer, and you get your money on regular basis when Amazon releases the payouts.
This is the most realistic way to making around $10k per month online in Singapore, if you know how to choose the right products to sell.
Assuming that you sell a $50 product with a profit margin of $15.
In order to get $10k per month in profit, you need to sell 10,000/15 = 667 items per month, which is around 23 items per day.
And while you can’t reach this number immediately once you get started with ecom, but it is definitely achievable.
You need of course to sell good products with a good quality, and you need to know how to run ads to your store, or how to create listings on Amazon and on your store.
Pros:
- Very scalable method.
- You can build a business that you can later sell.
- Once you build a good base satisfied customers, you can launch other products to them and relatively easily increase your revenue.
Cons:
- It needs a good capital to get started ($1,000-$2,000).
- You need to research the market, get samples, and test the products by yourself.
- Following up with customers is essential, which means that you need to do active work.

Blogging with Affiliate Marketing ($100 a Day/Beginners)
In my opinion, combining blogging with affiliate marketing is the best way to make money online in Singapore as a beginner.
It takes time to get results, but with consistent work, you can gradually reach the level where you can earn up to $100 a day in Singapore online.
Blogging is the process of creating written content on your blog or website, in order to get readers, just like I’m doing here on this website you are on.
And this doesn’t require any technical skills, as I know nothing about website development or coding.
And affiliate marketing is how you monetize your blog, which is promoting other people’s and businesses’ products and getting commissions on the sales that come from your promotions.
The nice thing is that you can do this in any topic that you like.
For example, you may create a blog about basketball, where you teach people how to improve their skills with articles such as:
- Best 5 drills to improve 3-pointers.
- How to improve vertical jump for basketball.
- The Best basketball shoes in 2022.
- The Best online course for basketball college players.
- …etc.
You write helpful articles, and inside your content, you may recommend products that your readers would benefit from, and make commissions from those who sell these products.
For example, you may promote an online course that teaches how to increase vertical jump, and you might get up to 40-50% commission on its price.
Or, you could promote physical products such as basketball shoes and training gear and get 5-10% commissions on their prices.
Same way, you can create a blog about any topic that you like, or about something that you know well, such as a profession, a hobby, an interest, …etc.
Or, you could make your blog about Singapore, like it is with the YouTube channel method explained above.
And you can monetize your blog with other ways in addition to affiliate marketing, such as: showing banner ads, creating and selling your own video course or ebook, creating a paid membership area, …etc.
But in order to get visitors and readers to your blog, you need to research your topic or niche, find the search queries that people used to search on Google, and write content about them, so that you know that there are people interested in reading what you write.
And although you don’t need coding skills or technical knowledge, but you need to learn how to use a simple website builder, called WordPress, in order to easily create your blog and add content to it.
And you need to put in the work into create a good amount of articles before expecting to get visitors and readers.
However, the nice thing is that after you start getting visitors to your blog, these visitors can keep visiting your blog for a long period of time, and each article you write today, might bring you readers, and income, for months or even years to come, which makes this a passive way for make money online in Singapore.
And while you can learn the necessary skills and start on your own with the free articles and YouTube videos everywhere, but you will find a lot of outdated and wrong information that might hold you back and slow down the progress.
This is why I recommend that you follow a proven method through a step-by-step affiliate marketing training that tells you what to do and saves you the time.
Pros:
- Low cost to get started ($100-$500).
- Flexible work hours.
- Scalable.
- No need to create your own product.
- You don’t deal with customers.
- Lots of affiliate opportunities.
- You can do it in almost any topic or niche.
- The content you write now can make you money for a long period of time, which makes it a passive income method.
- You can sell content websites or blogs for a good markup if you want.
Cons:
- It takes a while and a good amount of work before getting results.
- It is not free to get started properly.
